Identity released of Portsmouth woman found murdered in her apartment | News
Police have identified the woman found murdered Friday in her Portsmouth apartment as 64-year-old Linda Carroll.
Police say an autopsy has revealed that she was stabbed multiple times.
The news comes as a shock to Shelia Riddick who has known Carroll since they were children.
"I keep wishing it wasn't true," says Riddick.
Riddick tells News Channel 3 that Carroll was an active woman, always working to make her community a better place.
"She was involved in a little bit of everything. She was in the Civic League. She was in this thing, RSVP," said Riddick.
As part of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Riddick says Carroll helped watch out for her fellow residents by manning the apartments' doors, checking who came in and out of the building.
She also helped her elderly neighbors by driving them around town when they needed to run errands.
Friends were first alerted that something might be wrong when Carroll wasn't up early Friday like she usually was.
A neighbor went to her apartment to check on her and found her dead.
So far, police don't have any suspects.
