1 dead in Portsmouth double shooting | News
Portsmouth police say a man is dead after a double shooting this morning. Officials say one man was killed from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. A woman was also shot, and transported to a local hospital.
On February 29, 2012, at approximately 5:35 a.m. Portsmouth police were notified of gunshots in the area of 5 Canoe Court.
Police received additional calls relating to individuals suffering from gunshot wounds.
Police say crews arrived on scene and discovered 41-year-old Loring Larry Walker of 3600 Gateway Drive, Portsmouth. Police say he died on the scene as a result of an apparent gunshot wound. He was found inside the home.
A female resident of the home was also found suffering from gunshot wounds to the abdomen and lower body. Medic units transported her to Sentara Norfolk General, where she is currently in stable condition.
Detectives discovered the male had entered the home and allegedly shot the female, before shooting himself. The incident is domestic related.
